We've been going to this place since I moved to Abbotsford, for one important reason-they are open LATE. Nothing else here that serves decent food will serve you at 11 pm, and nightowls sometimes like a steak. Steaks and seafood are awesome- I'm very fond of the shnitzel moulin rouge, myself. And you can order big buckets of the goulash to take home-mmmm goulash. As for the other complaints I see periodically, I myself had one night where they were just sloppy and slow, but 90% of the time it's been great. It's dim, but I like that. If you hate the dark, it's probably not for you.

love this place! been goin there for yearsbut now since the renos its absolutly fantastico!! love the Steak and lobster bake!!! One of very few places where you get your steak done as ordered!

would be nice if the lady would at least show that she is glad to be alive. Very much improvement hneeded in the welcome department.
I wanted to bring a group of 18 people for dinner. She stated no it wopnt work. Well what a lot of money walked out that door.
Show some appreciation for your job or give the owners a break and get out. Oh, i believe you are an owner. Take a course in hospitality.

this place rocks, love the lounge, had the lobster bake appetizer, best thing i've ever tasted!

we went there with friends that just love schnitzel, but i am a steak lover so i hoped they could satisfy me just as well as my friend and hands down I absolutly had the best fillet mignon and something that is hard to find,finally a place where if you order medium rare that is exactly what you get, just loved it and already making plans to go next weekend again.

Great food, great service, great people- what more can you ask for?

Went there on the weekend, had one of the best meals of my life. Service was top notch, the server seemed to anticipate every need before it was apparent to me. The food portions were huge, I could not even finish my prime rib and lobster, which tasted incredible! The atmosphere was great, the staff entirely friendly and accommodating, and it was nice sitting in a booth large enough for one of my party who is larger than the average person. I will most certainly be back, and bringing more friends with me!

My fiance and I were seated in a poor area right beside the entry way despite the fact that nicer tables were available. Maybe it's simply because we are young, I'm not sure, but we were then ignored through-out the rest of our stay. Poor service, small (medium at best) portions, so-so food, and HIGH prices. The best service i have ever received

I was going in to the bavaria for a schnitzel, but was suprised at the selection of seafood available, so we had a side of crab and scallops with our schnitzel. I am from back east and I love seafood and this seafood was so tasty, it was big,fresh,and affordable, something that is a rare occurance in restaurants these days. We are already planning our next night out there! Loved it!

Have been going to this restaurant for years,always enjoyed it, but know since the new look I absolutly love it. Best prime rib in town far none, prices much more reasonable than any steak house, finally i have found a place were I get my steak done the way I ordered it. Service is great, I will definetly be back soon!

I was in Bavaria last week with my 3 friends.We had nice table by the fireplace.What a atmosphere ,food was amazing.Knowledgable &friendly staff.What a fun night.I will recommend this place to all my friends.Great place in Abbotsford to even just go for nice drink & appy...Love it

I went here a few months ago and what a pleasant suprise! The place has been renovated and looks classy and stylish. Such an improvement! It was late during the week and me and my two girlfriends ordered appys and drinks. Mussels were sooo good! So was the baked bri! MMM! Food was excellent but service was poor! The girl acting like she had no emotion,didn't seem friendly,and didn't even bother letting us know the specials, which we probably would have liked to get. Overall good food but the service is GARBAGE might go back if a friend invites but I wouldnt go back on my own, theres other great food experiences in abby that actually include customer service!

We showed up at 530pm on Sat. Dec.6/08 only to find every single booth was reserved ---- not to worry because we were given very comfortable chairs in the lounge. All the candles were then lit except ours -- kinda strange. Goulash & warm bread are included with the meal. Delicious!! The schnitzels, fried potatoes & red cabbage were perfection !! Our water glasses were full. The manager, a very pleasant fellow,even came over & asked how our dinner was. It was a nice touch. We have eaten at the Bavaria 7 times this year & the food is always outstanding!! However we must confess that we are still waiting for the waitress to crack a smile at anyone not only at us.

We went there last saturday and found it somehow strange to have dinner there. The food was excellent and we enjoyed it, but everything that had to do with the service was poor in every kind of aspect. After getting seated nobody asked us whether we'd like to have a drink or an aperitif for about 25 minutes. The candle on the table seems to be decoration, it never got lit. Also not on the neighbours table. The guy from the neighbouring table then stood up and got the bartender to come to his place so he could order. The service doesn't wear streamlined clothes or uniforms, they do what they want it seems in lack of profession and education regarding the restaurant business. We saw a waitress flamb on a table near ours and all movements and actions were done wrong in the wrong time. She basically put lot's 0f alcohol on the dish and ignited everything for a too short time ... French would go crazy and back off backwards from this place. The highlight was when the waitress came to take away the sour cream and butter we got for our steaks without asking and put it onto another table for other guests. THEY COULD MAKE TWICE THE TURNOVER IF THEY'D WORK PROPERLY AND FAST, TRAIN THEIR SERVICE AND STREAMLINE OPERATIONS. Kind of a restaurant manager and and observing authority is missing in this place.
Gave no tip, will never go there again, it is a wast of time.

Been going for years but stopped about 5 years ago when I went into the entrance of the kitchen to used the debit machine, and saw the dirtiest kitchen I have ever seen. Haven't been back since. Hope it has all changed since this place was an abbotsford institution for years.

I enjoyed my diner. The atmosphere was good, great selection of drinks, (lots of different bottles) The food was good to great. I have heard about how they were, but they really cleaned up nice. I would go there again. Abbotsford has a lot of chain resturants, it's nice to go to one that isnt.

Hi there Ive lived in Abbotsford for aprox.32years off and on the restraunt has a new look ladies and the food couldnt be better im in london and trying different restraunts I still say their food is the best,service is very good and setting it is perfect for that first date see ya there GYRO...

The Bavaria is very much better than it was before. I always thought it looked dirty in there, so for 20 years I didn't go. Then my parents took us there, and I was very surprised. I liked the menu, the atmosphere, the service, but was a little surprised to find out that the owners are not German. We are from Germany, so it would have been nicer, more nostalgic to have them be Germans.
We also would love some cranberries served with the Schnitzel!
Great job cleaning the place up.

I was there years ago..they don't have a good lighting system and the food was was pasty canned. I had a friend who work there and He even knows thats what they do..there was mice running around there piano..and it seem very dark..I would never go there again..and anyone esl who goods watch it..Years back out in mission when the had a place called the NEST there food was great and I got the same thing that the Bavaria which Bavaria charge me $45.00 and the Nest for the same food only $25.00

The food, service & the atmosphere was the best I've ever seen. Too bad it closed it's doors to the public after 30 years of service. But I hope will re-open again with the same excellent food, service & family atmoshere it was.
